We want The Growth Signal to be packed with valuable, insightful conversations—and that starts with great guests. If you’re joining us, here’s how to ensure a smooth experience and make the most of your time on the show:
1. Be on Time (or Easily Reschedule if Needed)
We know schedules change—if you can’t make your recording session, just use our scheduling assistant app (the same one you booked with) to quickly reschedule. No stress, no back-and-forth. Just please don’t ghost us—no one likes that.
2. Create a Distraction-Free Space
Find a quiet spot where you won’t be interrupted. Background noise, Slack notifications, and surprise visitors can make it harder for listeners to focus on your insights. A little prep goes a long way.
3. Think About Your Background
This is an audio podcast, but we record video too—and we’ll use those clips to promote your episode. A clean, professional background (or a solid virtual one) keeps the focus on you, not a messy office or a distracting backdrop.
4. Use a Good Mic & Headphones
Great audio makes all the difference. If possible, use an external mic instead of your laptop’s built-in one. Headphones also help prevent echo and improve sound quality. If you don’t have a mic, at least use wired headphones with a built-in mic for better clarity.
5. Check Your Lighting
If you’re in a dimly lit room, it’ll show on video. Natural light works great, or a simple desk lamp positioned in front of you can make a big difference. Avoid having a bright window behind you, which can make you appear in shadow.
6. Keep It Conversational, Not a Sales Pitch
Our audience values real talk. Come ready to share stories, insights, and hard-earned lessons—not just a pitch for your product. If what you do is interesting, it’ll naturally come up.
7. Bring the Energy
Nobody wants to listen to a monotone Zoom call. Be engaged, be opinionated, and bring your best insights. If you’re excited about the conversation, our audience will be too.
8. Test Your Tech Ahead of Time
Joining a few minutes early helps us troubleshoot any last-minute tech issues. Make sure your mic, camera, and internet connection are working properly. A quick test beforehand can prevent hiccups.
9. Stay Engaged—Even When You’re Not Talking
Since we use video clips for promotion, staying engaged visually matters. Nodding along, reacting naturally, and avoiding distracted multitasking makes for a better-looking and more dynamic conversation.
10. Promote Your Episode
We’ll send you assets and clips once your episode goes live—share them! The more people hear your insights, the bigger the impact. A quick post on LinkedIn or a mention in your newsletter goes a long way.
If you follow these tips, you’ll sound (and look) like the expert you are—and you’ll help us create an episode people actually want to listen to.
Looking forward to having you on The Growth Signal!
